    Lesson from Job

Post by Susan on Thu Nov 20, 2014 3:08 pm

Isaiah 61:7 For your shame ye shall have double: and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shal be unto them.

Job 42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Job 42:12(a) So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning:

Have you ever felt paralyzed, in your situation? Fear can grip so tightly, we don't know what to do. Perhaps you lost your job, and can't find work. Or, you just lost a child, and the grief is too much to bare. Perhaps you were robbed at gunpoint. Or your home was broken into. Maybe, gangs and thugs have taken over the street you lived on all your life. Your peaceful life has been turned into chaos and uncertainty.

Job, went through such trying times, on his life. A man who was favored by GOD, literally lost all he had, in loosing his wife and children. His friends came, but were not very considerate and could not console him. After a while, their feeble attempts only made matters worse. But Job, never cursed GOD, for his situation. He wrestled with GOD, over what he had done to deserve his condition. He blamed his human weakness, but never blamed HIS LORD. He knew all he had belonged to GOD first. He chose to humble himself, and soul search, himself for hidden sins. He praised the LORD, in every circumstance.

Job, was in a place of grief, that would paralyze most of us. It was then, he dug his heels in, and began to praise the LORD. Job knew the LORD could take his life, if HE wanted to. But the LORD, allowed this time for Job, to work through. Job remained faithful, and GOD rewarded Job, with a double portion. His animals were multiplied. His family was restored, through a new wife and children. He was allowed to see four generations of family be born. And Job lived 140 years. The WORD says he was old, being full of days.

Job did three things, we all can do, when we face paralyzing trials.

    1. He did not blame GOD, for his circumstances.

    2. He knew GOD, was bigger than any of his problems.

    3. He was able to forgive.

Job didn't run and hide, from his problems. He went to his knees, seeking GOD'S COUNSEL.

Friends may help us during times of trouble. Be thankful, if you have such friends. Others will show themselves, not to be the friends you thought they were. Pray for them.

Ultimately, a time of testing will come, at the enemy's hands, as in the case of Job. Keep trusting in the LORD, and HE will see you through.
